We are Dale and Marci Brown, together with our son Caleb we operate a small horse farm in South Western Ontario. Our horse emphasis is on dressage and reining . The two sports have much in common and the basic training of a supple , forward horse is at the heart of our schooling. Many of our horses are Quarter Horses, and they provide a great partnership and bring a super work ethic to the team.
The farm is also home to the Chatham Kent Police Horses. The temperment of our police horses is the most important. They meet a strick selection criteria before going to work on the road.
We also run a residential teen treatment home at the farm, and it is always a busy and exciting place to be. The relaxed country lifestyle provides the perfect setting for horses and people alike to reach thier full potential. Often time away from the city is just what societies kids need. A different lifestyle, where the livestock befriends and depends on you. The kids blossom when around the horses. We feel very blessed to be able to lead the life we do. First ARk Show of the Season
The first show of the season was a great success. Belmirage has a beautiful facility and many cheerful faces full of team spirit. It was definately a pleasure to show there ! We welcomed many new faces as well as many much more familiar to us. Even with a forcast of 100% rain, we somehow managed to stay dry . How awesome !

Erinn-Bre Sweeney - Yet again a great success with her own horse Vintage. First time showing for both horse and rider and some first ribbons to go with it !

Of course all my riders are supserstars ! And I am always so proud of you all !
Ark Riders go International
In May, five of our Ark Riders will complete the last leg of their qualifiers.
From there we will head to New York in July as "Team Canada-Ark" to compete at the Youth Dressage Festival ! This is quite an achivement for our local riders.
Watch for further updates to be announced here, and follow the progress of our team. We do have one rider who has a fantastic chance, but is hindered by costs so we are looking into some fundraising options. If you have any ideas let me know ! Local sponsors would be great also. We have team shirts, horse gear , vet boarder paperwork and farrier costs to cover as well as travel and entry fees. We are also hoping to find a camper trailer to bring along to New York to save on hotel costs, if anyone has one to lend !

I encourage all my readers and riders to go out and purchase this months copy of Practical Horseman !
It includes a great article on show prep, written by none other then our own Mette Rosencrantz ! It has some GREAT advice for both novice and seasoned horse show participants. I can tell you , as a show organizer, I have seen all the errors people make. This article is a great start to keep you in the ribbons. If you find Mettes writing helpful, be sure and email the magazine at practical.horseman@equinetwork.com and tell them you want to see more !
